By Beyonce 'sex party' Egypt Islamists appalled

Beyonce R and B singer, who put off a gig in Malaysia following Islamist outrage over her "gyrating moves" and "sexy outfits," has brought her world tour to Egypt where she faced more hostility.
Hamdi Hassan, a lawmaker from the Muslim Brotherhood, has written to the speaker of the house and the interior minister labeling her planned Friday night show a "sex party" and demanding to know why she was allowed to perform.
He said the concert advertisement, in which the comely diva wears a leotard fitted with motorbike handlebars extending from her crotch and a headlight nestled in her cleavage, "threatens social peace and security."
"I do not know who agreed to this sinful, unacceptable advertisement, or indeed who agreed to these blatant sex parties," Hassan wrote, accusing the government of encouraging "sin and debauchery."
Meanwhile, a group on social networking site Facebook opposing her concert has attracted nearly 10,000 members.
One poster displayed on the site, showing the silhouette of a curvacious woman with a diagonal red line through it, was entitled "This is not Egypt."
Beyonce, who once told an interviewer that she "likes to dress sexy," has so far drawn about 50 million dollars on her "I Am..." world tour, and there's no word yet on what she will be wearing.
Last month, Beyonce postponed a concert outside Kuala Lumpur after an official of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic party expressed sharp disapproval.
"We are not against entertainment, but it's the way she performs -- her gyrating moves on stage and her sexy outfits. It will erode the moral values of our young people," PAS youth chief Nasruddin Hassan Tantawi told AFP.
Marctensia, arranger of the Malaysian concert, had said Beyonce would tone down her attire.
It insisted the postponement was "solely the decision of the artiste and has nothing to do with other external reasons" and that a new date would be announced.
In Egypt, the concert is still set to go ahead, under tight security, at the Red Sea resort of Port Ghalib.
The best tickets are going for Egyptian 2,000 pounds (366 dollars, 246 euros), well above the means of most Egyptians.
The banned party Muslim Brotherhood is effectively Egypt's main opposition party and is widely popular for its social work. It runs candidates as independents in parliamentary elections to get around the ban.
The party, which calls for the establishment of an Islamic state by peaceful means, normally focuses its flak on government corruption and foreign policy but has campaigned against what it considers prurient literature and art.
Most Egyptian Muslim women wear head scarves in accordance with Islamic custom, and the poverty ridden country has lurched towards religious conservativism.
But the country is arguably the capital of the Arab world's film and music industries, and satellite channels with Arab pop stars in sometimes racy music videos have a wide audience.
And Western singers regularly perform in Egypt. In February, pop singer Akon, famous for his hit single "Smack That," peeled off his shirt and dove into the crowd.
It is still to be seen what sexy outfits and gyrating moves Beyonce offers the crowds on Friday night. But long after she is gone, nightclubs will still have plenty of both on offer -- as belly dancers delight both Egyptian and foreign audiences.

as she stars in new Beyonce video to Lady GaGa renamed 'Gee-yonce'

Lady GaGa says she got so involved in her role for Beyonce’s music video, that people started calling her Gee yonce.
When Beyonce invited the Paparazzi singer to star alongside her for new single Video Phone earlier this month, GaGa didn’t fancy playing herself.
Lady GaGa reportedly told a US radio station: “When I was doing her video with her, she called me, and she said, ‘What do you want to do?’
“And I'm like, ‘I don’t want to show up in some frickin’ hair bow and be fashion GaGa in your video’. I said, 'I want to do you’.”
“So the whole time I was learning the choreography, they were calling me Gee-yonce.”
And it looks like the 23 year old’s special effort paid off – Beyonce has just announced that she will returned the favour by singing on her Lady GaGa’s album.
The popstars have recorded a duet called Telephone, which will feature on the new version of Fame Monster – out on November 23.

Ride Her Bicycle Beyonce Likes

Beyonce Knowles looks herself as the female version of Lance Armstrong she’s taken up cycling!
The Sweet Dreams hitmaker says she hops on her bike during her days off when she’s on tour.
She said, “I started riding a bike on my days off with others like my assistant and stylist”

“It’s amazing how I’m able to ride around on a bike. People kind of look it’s me but since I’m on a bike, they think, ‘No, it’s not her’. And by the time they realize it’s me, I’m already gone. It’s great to do something normal every day. It keeps me grounded.”
Beyonce who’s married to rapper Jay-Z currently revealed that she’s rubbish when it comes to cooking.
“I’m a disaster in the kitchen!” she said. “You know what my secret is for preparing the perfect meal for friends when I invite them over? It’s ordering from their having the food delivered and the best restaurants.

“I’m not into too many indulgences, but if there’s one benefit of success that I enjoy, it’s being able to order incredible dishes!”

Alan Braxe Remixes Beyoncé

In its original form, new Beyoncé single "Broken Hearted Girl" is a turgid ballad that reminds you why I Am...Sasha Fierce was kind of a disappointment on an album level.
But in the hands of French bubble disco maven Alan Braxe, it turns into a fizzy, seven minute frenzy of wah wah guitars, Sunshine Band horns, and whip snap snares. It gets the Alan Braxe treatment, in other words.

Listen to the remix at Disco Dust.

paternity quiz, Beyonce's dad faces

A woman has claimed she is pregnant with Beyonce Knowles' father's child.
Alexsandra Wright, thought to be in her late 30s, has filed a paternity case against Mathew Knowles at Los Angeles County Superior Court.
According to website TMZ.com, she is six months pregnant and claims Mathew is the father of the unborn baby.
Mathew has been married to Tina Knowles since 1980. They have two children together, Beyonce, 27, and 23 year old Solange.
Mathew manages both of his daughters and has also moved into film, executive producing Beyonce's 2009 thriller Obsessed.
He also has his own record label, Music World Entertainment, which represents Beyonce, Solange and former Destiny's Child singers Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.
Mathew currently praised his eldest daughter for "reaching out" to country music star Taylor Swift after Kanye West embarrassed the teenager onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards.
He said: "I can only say it was a proud night for me as a manager, but more importantly as a father. I've always said the thing that makes me most proud about Beyonce is not how many records she's sold or how many plaques she has or how many awards; it's that she's a genuine, good person.
"I know it's hard for people to believe that she can actually be that nice of a person, but she actually is."

Abu Dhabi F1 race play Aerosmith, Beyonce

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) An entertainment promoter says Beyonce and Aerosmith will headline concerts at the first ever Formula One race in Abu Dhabi.
Flash Entertainment said Monday the performers will open and close the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend next month.
Beyonce is slated to kick off the festivities on Thursday, Oct. 29. Aerosmith will wrap things up three days later. But the only way fans in the conservative Gulf city can look them is to buy tickets to the F1 race.
Concerts are also planned for Friday and Saturday, though the headliners haven't been announced.
Some of the attractions planned around the Emirati capital's first Formula One race include outdoor movies and free concerts — including one by hip-hop producer Timbaland — on the city's Persian Gulf beachfront.

Beyonce stirs Islamist ire in Malaysia again

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – Malaysia's opposition Islamist party wants U.S. pop star Beyonce to cancel a planned concert in this Southeast Asian country, two years after it prevented the singer from performing, citing moral issues.
Foreign acts often draw protests by the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), whose youth wing succeeded in forcing Beyonce to cancel a 2007 concert and sought last year to prevent Canadian singer Avril Lavigne from performing in this mainly Muslim country of 27 million people.
"We are against western entertainment that promotes hedonism. We do not want our youth to be misled," said Ahmad Sabki, vice-president of PAS Youth, was quoted as saying in Thursday's New Straits Times newspaper.
Malaysia's image as a moderate Muslim country has been hit by the current sentencing to caning of a woman caught drinking beer.
Beyonce is due to perform in Malaysia on October 25 for the first time, if she is allowed, as part of a global tour, the newspaper said.
Earlier this month, Malaysia initially banned Muslims from attending a concert by U.S. hip-hop band The Black Eyed Peas, which was sponsored by Guinness, one of the brands owned by the world's biggest spirits group Diageo.
The ban was reversed, but a senior official said it was up to the individual's "better judgement" to attend the event.
PAS conservatism on cultural issues has caused problems for the three-member opposition alliance of which it is a part, said Zaid Ibrahim, a former law minister who is now a senior opposition politician.
"It is as if for PAS Youth, the effort to fight corruption, abuse of power and inciting racism is less important compared to the efforts to make sure the young who are just learning to love and wish to be entertained freely are obstructed from enjoying a little freedom," Zaid wrote on his website

Suri earmuffs buys Katie Holmes at Beyonce concert

Katie Holmes' daughter burst into tears at a Beyonce Knowles concert on Tuesday night.
Three year old Suri Cruise Katie's daughter with husband Tom Cruise was initially thrilled as she sat with her mother behind velvet ropes in the general admission section of the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
But when Beyonce took to the stage to perform her hit 'Crazy In Love', Suri started crying, hiding her face in Katie's coat to escape the bright lights and noise.
As soon as the number was over, Katie and Suri hurried out of the stadium, returning 15 minutes later with a pair of industrial ear muffs for the bambino.
A source said: "We were all a bit shocked when they left after the first song, but they were back before long, with Suri wearing a huge pair of earmuffs.
"She was much happier after that, and clapped and danced to the rest of the concert."
Katie, Tom and Suri have been living in Australia for the past two-and-a-half months while Katie films new horror movie 'Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark'.
They are expected to come back to New York this weekend.

LB Larry Foote: Lions look like Beyonce to me

What do the Lions and Beyonce have in common?
Nothing. Unless you’re linebacker Larry Foote, who seems to view them with equal admiration.
It’s understandable for a player to defend his team, but Foote’s response to some unflattering criticism of the Lions is a little beyond the pale.
Foote, who grew up in Detroit, is saying the Lions look like a young, talented, beautiful diva. But even in the most flattering lighting, that’s a stretch for a team that just lost its 18th straight game.
Foote was responding Monday to comments made by Fox announcer Chris Myers during Sunday’s game. Myers compared Foote winning Super Bowls in Pittsburgh to playing for his hometown Lions by saying: “That’s like going from dating Beyonce to Whoopi Goldberg.”
“That’s a stupid comment,” Foote said. “No disrespect to Whoopi. This is my team. Just from that statement, this team looks like Beyonce to me. So I’m happy with it.”
Foote was smiling a little when he said this, so I’ll cut him a little slack.

Beyonce’s make her mom feel proud

They say if you’ve got it, flaunt it, and Beyoncé Knowles definitely knows how to shake what her momma gave her. She’s made millions doing it -- $87-million a year, according to Forbes magazine’s recent calculation – and the woman who helped inspire and enhance the star’s considerable assets, her mother, remains at the center of it all.

“It’s been an amazing run,” the Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, said. The marathon that is her daughter’s career shows no sign of stopping any time soon.

Her famous daughter has collected a baker’s dozen Grammy Awards and this weekend is in Las Vegas to wrap up her North American “I am… Yours” tour with a quartet of intimate shows at Encore Theater.

“She’s really looking forward to the intimacy of this,” Knowles said. “It’s a different show from her ‘I am… (Yours)’ tour, completely different, … (and) she’s very excited about being able to do songs that she doesn’t get to do on the show regularly.”

“This is more like an intimate, heartfelt something that she doesn’t get to do every day,” she explained. “She’s changed things up and it’s going to (have) a lot of fun surprises.”

The matriarch’s smile is detectable even as she speaks over the phone. While her cell phone cuts in and out of range as she and her grandson wind their way through the aisles of a Los Angeles bookstore, her mother’s pride remains clear.

“She has worked so hard,” she says of her daughter’s recent efforts to tailor and perfect the performance that she has been giving in arenas across the country for the 1,500-seat Encore Theater. “She’s putting it together as she goes along so it’s been a really big challenge.”

“I think as of Sunday they had worked 14 days in a row preparing for this,” she said of the crew. The four-night engagement will provide fans with an up-close and personal look at the superstar. In addition to the scaled-down size of venue, the set list and show itself have been reworked and are totally unique.

“It’s a totally different show,” Knowles asserted, which means the band had to learn new songs and back-up dancers had to learn new choreography. Not that fans should expect Beyoncé to abandon her material and turn the Encore showroom into a cover song-filled cabaret.

“They’re all her songs,” Knowles assured. “She has so many songs she (only) does a fraction of them on tour … (but) she’s going to get to do them on this show.”It would seem that when it comes to songs that she loves to sing, Beyoncé suffers from too much of a good thing.“She has a lot of hits,” Knowles said, chuckling as she concluded, “That’s a good problem to have.”Knowles is humble and gracious despite both her and her daughter’s success.“I feel very blessed,” she said when asked about her daughter’s megastar status. While Knowles is understandably thrilled by Beyoncé’s accomplishments, it seems that it her daughter’s down-to-Earth demeanor that she seems most proud of.“She’s very, very talented but also a nice person,” she insisted. “I feel very blessed to be a part of … all the challenges and the accomplishments.”

About Beyonce
